Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
FASTER HIGHER STRONGER TOGETHER
I found it touching and appropriate that the Olympic Opening ceremony focussed on health workers and front line workers in the global response to Covid 19. I am thankful for the expertise, dedication and compassion of these workers, particularly those in our community.
As I write this I am waiting for the Premier to inform us of our lockdown fate. Regardless of the result I am confident that we will continue to manage the situation together with good humour and compassion. Maybe at the 2024 Paris Olympics the cauldron will be lit by a loving parent home schooling their children connected to a teacher via google meet!

Happy Birthday to children celebrating their birthday this week.
Fridays theme was green and gold to celebrate the Tokyo Olympics to add a bit of fun to our day. Thanks for the many fantastic photos that were shared with us.
If we need a theme for this Friday we will let you all know. Perhaps you might like to send us your suggestions?
Here are some photos from Friday.

If we can't be playing competitive sport at the moment, I am sure glad we are able to watch it, constantly, at the Olympics! How amazing are the variety of sports, the immense talent and the camaraderie that is demonstrated at these events, despite their different cultural backgrounds!
I still have limited information regarding our scheduled inter-school sporting competitions. Girls Football that was scheduled for Thursday 29th July will be postponed until later in the term. Most events rely on the dates set for the State competition and therefore the Regional competitions need time to be pushed back too. This may result in some events like our Winter Sports and Hockey being cancelled.
At this stage:
- Hooptime basketball dates will remain the same
- Volleyball will moved to Thursday 2nd September
- We still hope to hold the AFL 9's competition for our Year 4 students too! Fingers crossed!
As always, please email us with any further queries or concerns; sport@sjwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au
Thanks for your support and flexibility during this challenging time for Sport!
Regards,
Mrs Emily Lloyd (Physical Education & Sport Co-ordinator)
Mr Matthew McMillan.
