Jim Guinan, Interim Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
I share these thoughts for Mother’s Day and hope all our mothers and carers were looked after yesterday. No-one was more excited than our eager shoppers at the Mother’s Day Stall last week, judging by the looks on their faces and the plans they had to keep the present a secret. See today’s newsletter for an opportunity to complete a survey regarding the Mother’s Day Stall.
Just a couple of notes to get us started this week.
Naplan 2021 gets under way this week for our students in Grade 3 and 5. Any student absent for any of these tests, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be made up on Friday if possible.
School photos will be distributed to students to take home starting today.
A reminder of COVID restrictions still in place effecting parent participation onsite. We are still unable to have parents in classrooms or at assemblies until further notice.
Our preference is for parents to pick up children after school at the designated areas A-G Loop, H-M Queens road and N-Z at the tennis courts. Before making alternative arrangements, parents need to apply in writing by emailing cduyn@sjwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au and wait for this to be confirmed. Unless urgent, daily changes due to weather will not be made.
Jim Guinan, Interim Principal.
Happy Birthday to children celebrating their birthday this week.
Harrison Greenwood, Jack Hall, Chanel Templeton, Maddox McDermott, William Stewart, Knox Guiney, Amelia Roache, Jhett Tucker, Jay Moloney-Smith, Levi McArthur, Darcy Morrison, Joshua Coghlan, Patrick Farrelly and Diesel Harrington.
NAPLAN is a national assessment plan that normally takes place each year. It is designed to assess students in Grade 3 and 5 in Reading, Mathematics, Grammar, Punctuation and Writing.
It is scheduled to take place this year on 11th, 12th and 13th May. All students in Grade 3 and 5 attending school on those days will complete the supervised test unless school is notified that you do not want your child to participate.
School photos are being distributed to students today.
Please contact Glen at Glen Watson Photography with any queries regarding your order. Glen can be contacted via the Contact button on his website.

Congratulations to the children who will celebrate the Sacrament of First Eucharist this weekend on Sunday 16th May at either then 8:30am, 10:00am or 6:00pm Mass. These children prepare for the Sacrament last year during Remote Learning.
Eucharist candidates should sit on an aisle seat.
A Family Prayer
Jesus, we come before you in gratitude as family. We thank you for the gift of uniqueness of each member of our family. Nourish us so we may see the gifts you have given us and so encourage the gifts in those around us.
Response: Jesus, nourish us.
Jesus, we come before you in sorrow as family. We ask you to forgive the times we have hurt you and each other.
Response: Jesus, forgive us.
Jesus, we come before you in need as family. Assist us in our journey with each other. May each of us be a sign of your love by the way we love each other.
Response: Jesus, send us your light.
Jesus, we come before you as community. May the example we live out in our homes be a reflection of the love you have for us all – that we may all be one.
Response: Jesus, make us one.
No Celebration following Mass
Unfortunately, there will not be a traditional sharing of food after the Mass.
Stole
Parents will have received an iron on Eucharist transfer for their child.
Wear the stole with the Baptism and Diocese transfers on the right side.

Once per term the PSA run a Pizza Day as a "special occasion" lunch option and to raise money for the PSA.
Children can choose from either Garlic or Hawaiian pizza (Gluten Free options available) which are provided by Pinkie’s Pizza who are one of our major school sponsors.
Orders open on Monday 10th May via CDFPay (Canteen ordering system)
There are no canteen orders on Pizza Days and children not wanting to order pizza should bring their lunch from home.
Sorry, no late orders can be accepted.
Volunteers Needed Urgently
We rely on our volunteers and are also in need of more parents to assist. Canteen can only run 5 days a week if we have sufficient volunteers. Can you help?
Training is arranged by our Canteen Co-ordinator Tania Hughes. Please consider volunteering, even if only once per term, all help most appreciated.
