Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
We ended last week with the return to onsite learning. St Joseph’s was full of chatter and excitement as the children returned. It was pleasing to see how well the students adapted to their changing circumstances which was an indication of their resilience and flexibility. Although not an ideal situation the continued provision of quality learning was only made possible due to the continued partnership between teachers and families.
As we return to “normal” school life there will be some amendments planned. Confirmation, cross country and winter sport dates all need to be rescheduled. We will keep you informed as information comes to hand.
Covid Safe Arrangements
Health and hygiene protocols continue, including hand washing and sanitation. If you or your child are unwell, please stay at home and consult with your doctor.
QR code sign in is now required for all entry into the school. We have placed a quick drop off desk in the foyer for your convenience.
Our designated school pick up points will continue. Parents are welcome to meet their children outside their classrooms after school.
Sadly, the restrictions around adult gatherings continue. This means that there is little opportunity for parents to get more involved inside the school. I am particularly aware of our Foundation and Year 1 families who have had little opportunity to celebrate and engage with their children inside the classroom. We are all looking forward to welcoming families back indoors as soon as possible.

We are offering three different ways for you to access our enrolment form this year.
Onlne Enrolment
This year we have created an online enrolment form that can be completed and submitted electronically.
For this process go to our school website and select the Enroment tab. Complete the Enrolment Enquiry to add your details for reminders and updates.
Under the Enrolment Tab you will also notice an Online Enrolment Form - select this and away you go. A tip with this one is do not use a phone or ipad to complete the form, any laptop or desktop computer will work fine.
You will also need to make sure you have your child's documentation (birth, immunisation, baptism certificates and any specialist reports) loaded onto your device, either by taking a photo or scanning and uploading as you will be able to upload all of that as well.
Download and print
You can download and print a copy of the enrolment form and then complete it manually.
Collect an enrolment form
You can collect a printed form from the school office to complete manually.
If you have any questions regarding the enrolment process please feel free to contact the school office at any time.
Keep in mind that enrolments do close on Friday 18th June to everyone!

Year 4 Maths Competition
This week we are focusing on our Year 4 students. 9 children from this level participated in the KSF Maths competition. Some of these children had participated last year, but for the rest it was a new experience. We had some amazing results with Sam Collins earning a High Distinction, Jack Kitto and Oliver Marris a Distinction and Lachlan Walters with a Credit.
The Year 3 and 4 children sit an online test consisting of 24 questions. They have an hour to complete the competition. Questions 1–10 (1–8) are 3 points each, questions 11–20 (9–16) are 4 points each and 21–30 (17–24) are 5 points each. The questions are multiple choice with 5 choices. There are no penalties for incorrect answers.
Here is an example of the kind of questions in the competition:
Susanne is 6 years old. Her sister Lisa is 2 years younger. Brother Max is 2 years older than Susanne. How old are the 3 siblings all together?
(A) 15 (B) 16 (C) 17 (D) 18 (E) 19
Felix the rabbit has 20 carrots. Every day he eats 2 of them. He has eaten the 12th carrot on a Wednesday. On which day of the week did he start eating the carrots?
