Principal Message | Matthew O'Brien
This week’s Staff Meeting will focus on refining our goals for the school review. When we concluded last term we had 15 goals. There was a deal of crossover among these goals. Our task for Tuesday night is to filter these into 3 key priorities.
Thanks everyone for such a positive response to my retirement news that I announced last week. I’m not sure if it was a good or bad thing that the staff applauded when I made the announcement!
Please read in conjunction with the Upcoming events list showing on the left.
Week 2:
Monday 28th July: Teacher ARM's, DIBELS Testing all week
Tuesday 29th July: Pizza Day
Wednesday 30th July: Teacher ARM's and Maintenance Position Interviews
Thursday 31st July: Teacher ARM's
Friday 1st August: August Census Day; Regional Girls Football
Week 3:
Tuesday 5th August: Maths Competition (in Room E5)
Wednesday 6th August: Maths Competition (in Room E5), Eucharist Formation Day
Friday 8th August: Division Lawn Bowls

SIMON - Following the update to the new version of SIMON, take your time to work your way through the different look. If you have challenges, use the search bar in the top right corner. I’ve found it very successful .
YARD DUTY
At the start of semester 2, it has been the practice to swap out those on the afterschool duties with someone who does not have one. Having just set up the wet day duty roster I am loath to do that all again. However, I am more than happy for any after school duty person to ask another staff member for a change and I would anticipate that most, in the interests of fairness, would be willing to make a swap. Just make sure that in swapping you consider both the yard duty roster and the wet duty roster so no one ends up needing to be in 2 places at the one time. I know we’re all fantastic , but I don't think that would work.
End Of Day
Could I ask anyone being the last teacher in an area to turn off the lights at the end of the day if they are the last teacher in that space. Particularly the Len Hogan and Foundation shared areas.

LSO Feedback books: Please remember the classroom teacher is responsible for checking books and recording incidents on SIMON.
These incidents could be entered as a weekly summary as explained below.
SIMON: Reminder, there is a section to record a Weekly Summary for students who display low-level minor behaviours in the classroom. This is located under: Incidents > Minor > Weekly Summary
Positive Behaviour Matrix
Thank you for the discussion and feedback so far. A draft will be shared with staff, students and parents.

The Student Wellbeing Hub supports the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of students in schools. It has lots of Resources and Webinars. It’s worth having a browse to see if the resources are helpful in your planning and webinars of interest for your own interests and PD.

New Memo Platform:
I hope you are enjoying the new memo format. As you now may realise this is produced using the same platform as the school newsletter, which means for you to get the memo, you will now also get the school nesletter in your inbox as well. This may not be how you used to receive it (especially if you have the school app), but I need to ask you all not to click unsubsribe on the newsletter, as this will also then remove you from receiving the memo.
Late to School Passes:
Next week you will notice a change to these passes. They are now pink and say WELCOME. We are trying a change of tact after noticing some students not wanting to take a green pass that tells everyone they are late, but they were happy to take any other card. These will be laminated so they can be re-used. Can staff please return them to office every few days and just pop them back in the red container at the front desk. It may make no difference, but we thought it was worth a try.
Vacuuming:
As part of our new maintenance and cleaning program, a new vacuum person will commence on Monday. As soon as I have the vacuuming roster, I will share that with you all (which may have even happened before you are reading this).
Teacher ARM's:
These one on one meetings will continue this week; please see the link below if you need to check your day & time.
SIMON Update:
When you log into SIMON for the first time you will notice it has changed.
You can alter your home screen to your preferrd option by clicking on your photo in the top right hand corner, and then under layout, choose your option. Have click on them all and see which you prefer, this can be different for everyone.
I have added a video below on Marking the rolls:
This new version also gives us options to create PINS, allowing each person to pin their most used areas within SIMON.
I have added a vido below provided by SIMON to run over some of the changes, including on how to create pins.
