SPORTS REPORT, WEEK 6

Athletics

Thank you to all those who have offered to help out at our Sports Carnival this Thursday 4th March.  The children have been out practicing their events during Physical Education lessons and with their Homerooms too.  They are looking forward to a great day and the opportunity to challenge themselves to run faster, throw further and jump higher than they did last year! A feat to be proud of.

Good luck to all four House Colour teams and to our House Captains who will gain the opportunity to lead.  This year there will be a Senior House circular Relay event as well as a novelty House Ball Relay too.  Every single point counts!

Unfortunately, Government guidelines still restrict parents from being onsite at the school. We understand that parents will be disappointed not being able to attend the school sports, however St Joseph's Primary School is guided by State Government guidelines.

Sports Day Practice

Lawn Bowls

On Wednesday 24th February, the St Joseph’s Bowls team participated in the Divisional Bowls competition at Warrnambool Bowls Club in Timor Street in Warrnambool. The team of fifteen learned the skills of bowls under the guidance of “Parky” and many volunteers from the Warrnambool Bowls Club.

We won our first three games against Nullawarre PS, Warrnambool PS and Warrnambool East Primary School. However, Our Lady Help of Christians were too good and beat us in the last game.

Thanks goes to Sharon and Andrew for driving us to practice.

Hockey

Some photos from last weeks Hockey clinic.

Swimming

Today we are finally trialling 61 students’ swimming ability at Aquazone. It will be a quick turnaround as the successful students who progress through to the Divisional Competition will be held on Friday 12th March here in Warrnambool.

We would like to thank our parent volunteers who are able to make it to the pool today and also to our Foundation teacher, Ms Georgia Johnstone, a former elite swimmer, who will be assisting our Swimming Team this year.

Upcoming dates for the diary

Please refer to the SZApp for up to date details on upcoming events.
