As a result of the investigation into a possible SIMON data breach some immediate changes have been made to SIMON access.

This is currently limited to onsite access only, and will remain this way for the foreseeable future.  This is why PAM is currently turned off.

This change has instigated the Multi Factor Authentication process when logging into SIMON.  This is not a problem for those using the same computer each time, but for those of you who use different machines over the week, you will need to follow this process every time.  It is imperative that you DO NOT turn this off.

I have been asked to request that ALL staff members change your passwords to SIMON (which you will only be able to do next time you are onsite), AND also your google password.  This needs to be as soon as possible, immediately if you can.

To change your SIMON password click on your photo in the top right hand corner / then click in your name / then from the panel on the left hand side of your screen, select User Preferences and then Reset Password.

To change your google password click on your round photo beside the 9 dots, select Security (left hand side), scroll down to the How you sign in to Google panel, select password, and follow the process to change your password.

If you happen to use your school (google) email with the same password to access any other site, whether that be a personal shopping site, your bank, superannuation account... anything, you are advised to change those passwords also.

I know this is a pain, but good password etiquette would state that while you may use the same email address as a login for different sites, they should all have different passwords.

This is also a reminder that your school/work email address should only be used for work purposes, it should not be used for personal accounts or logins of any nature; this is partly because if anything was to go wrong, we can turn off your work emails at any time which will be problematic if you are trying to access your bank out of hours.
