STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Daily school attendance is important for young people to succeed in education and to ensure they don’t fall behind both socially and developmentally. Young people who regularly attend school have better health outcomes, better employment outcomes, and higher incomes across their lives.
Please see below our levels of response to attendance:
Regular attendance Regular attendance is said to occur when a student attends school for 95% or more of the time, missing less than 10 days a year (Absent 5% or less) Goal: At least 80% or more of students at school are within this category At risk for chronic absenteeism Attending less than 95% but greater than 90% of the time, missing between 10 and 19 days a year (Absent greater than 5% but less than 10%) Goal: No more than 15% of students at school Chronic absenteeism Attending 90% or less, missing 20+ days a year, averaging 1 day per fortnight, (Absent 10% or more) Goal: No more than 5% of students at school |
