PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
Year 3 Camp
Good luck to our Year 3 students who are off on camp this week down at the Warra Gnan Coastal Camp in South Warrnambool. The weather looks promising so they will be able to enjoy all of the activities; fishing, surfing and bike riding as well as the highlight of the “Shipwrecked” Sound and Light Show at Flagstaff Hill.
Year 4s head to Kangaroobie next week.
Volunteers
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers.
The Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who baked and to those who volunteered their time to turn and sell the sausages. Early numbers suggest that we raised about $2,500 on the day.
The Mother’s Day Stall was another exciting experience for the children who put a deal of effort and procrastination into their choices for their mums. Thanks to Holly Coffey who coordinated the purchasing of the gifts (and her mum who wrapped most of them) and to the volunteers who helped with the sales.
We are looking forward to the Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday morning. This event does not get off the ground without the vision and leadership of the Parents School Association and our volunteer helpers. Thanks in advance to all involved (photos and a full report next week).
Seaside Community Kitchen
Seaside Community Kitchen – Each Monday evening from 5:00pm – 6:30pm. Individual and family meals are being served from St Joseph’s Hall, Raglan Parade, Warrnambool. Please enter via Raglan Parade and continue to the church car park (between the hall and the church).
Presently, the meals are ‘take away’ and are being offered to single people as well as families. Last Monday’ s night included chicken soup, individual homemade pies, mashed potatoes and peas. Meals are packed in ‘take away’ containers for easy transport.
In challenging economic times, you are invited to come along and collect a meal.
The Seaside Community Kitchen Group has been supported financially by the Diocese of Ballarat and local trusts along with Rotary. Star of the Sea Parish provided the facilities - St. Joseph’s Hall and kitchen free of costs and the parish covers costs of power, cleaning and provide storage for pantry items.
