SPORTS REPORT

Division Hockey

Congratulations to all those students who competed in the Division Hockey Finals. We entered two teams on the Day. Our boys team played 5 matches and won 4 and lost 1.  They finished in 1st overall on the ladder with the highest winning points for the day and have advanced to the Regional Finals in Dimboola. Our girls played one match against Warrnambool Primary School.  They drew this game in overtime and have also advanced to the regionals in the next round in Dimboola.

A huge thank you to our coaches Karen and Marcia for their great work in coaching and supporting the teams on the day.  Children are invited to the Hockey Centre Wednesday after school for practice at 4:15pm.

Aussie Footy

Urgent Reminder and Donations of Football Boots.

Anybody who participated in the Aussie Footy Program will need to return their jumpers this week for our girls team who are competing this coming Friday at the Mack Oval.

Also, any families that have old football boots at home and would like to donate them to the school would be kindly appreciated for our girls football team this Friday.

State Football Update

Payment for bus now online through CDFPay

Payments for State Football can be paid online now through CDFPay.  If you are having difficulties doing this then please call the office. Further training for this competition will be notified when confirmed.

Aerobics Clinics

Over the next two weeks, Emma Bellman from EKB Fitness will be running aerobics and dance sessions for the Foundation to Year 4 students in PE classes.  We are greatly appreciative of the support, time and energy that Emma has provided our school. We will no doubt have some very tired but very happy children in the coming weeks.

Hooptime - Sports Report

Well done to everyone who tried out for the upcoming 5/6 Hooptime Tournament last Friday and attended the Saturday morning training sessions in preparation for the competition.  A big thank you to Mr Gray and Mike McGorm for their support in the selection trials. This Year St Joseph’s have entered three teams into the Senior Competition: All Star Boys, All Star Girls and Future Stars Teams.

Selection Process - HOOPTIME

  • Traditionally, the amount of interest demonstrated by St Joseph’s students far exceeds the number of places available, and as such experienced players are – as best as possible - strategically placed into All-Star teams.
  • Hooptime Rules strongly encourage schools to enter their best boys and girls teams regardless of whether they play representative or domestic competition.
  • For the first time, Warrnambool District Hooptime is also running a Future Stars Mixed Team where 3 boys and 2 girls must be on the court at all times.  For this reason, we have selected a team consisting of a 5:3 boys to girls ratio.
  • The students are drawn from try-outs and not in the All-Star Teams to fill up the Future-Star roster. The team is also made up of a mixed girls and boys team.
  • Unfortunately, this selection process means that some students will miss out.  We apologise for any disappointment caused in those cases.

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected in 2019:
