ST JOSEPH'S CURRICULUM
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. NAIDOC week celebrations were held all over Australia during the school holidays (7th - 14th July). The NAIDOC week theme for 2019 was ‘Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let's work together for a shared future.’ At St. Joseph’s students in the Junior School engaged in activities to enrich their understanding of Australian indigenous culture.
