LRC NEWS AND ARTS WEEK
LRC Update: Book Week is here!
This year’s theme lends itself to just about anything and anyone. We have been talking to the students about what it means to be inspired by someone, and that this year is the opportunity to come dressed as that person - even if they haven’t appeared in a book! The Book Week Parade will be held on Friday 25th August and parents/guardians are welcome to attend from 9:05am in the School Hall. Our usual Assembly will be held later in the day, led by Room E4 where our Arts Week will be celebrated from 2:30pm.
The LRC also has some dress-up costumes and accessories available for any students to borrow for the parade. Just email me at elloyd@sjwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au
Arts Week
This week is an exciting week for the ARTS.
All students will be attending an incursion led by Mr Jan Wositzky, a storyteller musician who will be engaging the students with stories from Australian History using music. Each class will be taking time to venture through our foyer display which integrates this year’s theme of Once Upon a Time with our Book Week theme ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’.
Students will use stickers to brighten up the White Room, engage with our Reading Tree and enter the Book Week Competition “Show us your Shelfie”.

Exhibition of Arts from Arts week
The following week you will be able to view many of the students’ amazing artwork produced this week, in the School Hall next Wednesday 30th August.
Art Week Night Walk and Choir Concert
The choir will also be performing in the Hall from 6pm on Wednesday 30th August. This will be followed by the main gates in the loop car park opening at 6:30pm for the whole community to enjoy and participate in the night walk around our class window displays.
We are simply asking for gold coin donations at the gate to support the incursions, materials and equipment required to produce a successful Arts' Week here at St. Joseph’s Primary School.
2023 Premier’s Reading Challenge
All participants will receive a completion certificate for completing the challenge, hopefully by the final Assembly this term. Congratulations to the following students who have recently completed the Challenge:
- Finn Clifford
- Nicholas Senchenko
