PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
Principal’s Message
Thank you to everyone who was involved in our community consultation process to decide upon the future of the St Joseph’s Fair. After due consideration the Parent School Association has decided not to continue with the Annual Fair. This decision enables the PSA to focus on community building activities with our $10,000 Business Raffle being our major fundraiser.
PSA Family Support
At recent PSA discussions, the group is conscious of financial pressure some families may be feeling at the moment. With this in mind we want all of our families to feel their children can be included in all PSA run activities, and not be excluded due to cost.
With this in mind, we have introduced a free cost ticket option for the student disco. If this situation applies to your family you would still ‘purchase’ a disco ticket from within CDFPay by choosing the ticket titled “Disco (PSA Supported)”. This will be completely confidential, and this information does not come through on any reports. In essence your ticket will be funded by the PSA and we hope this gesture from the PSA group helps your family and your child both financially and socially.
Sympathies
Our sympathies are with the Hall family for the passing of Clinton Hall (father of Jack Year 4 and Ella and William at Warrnambool College).
We also remember the McGowan family as Mick McGowan also passed away last week. Mick is the father of Bella, Hannah and Bayley all past students of St Josephs. The thoughts, prayers and support of our community is with these families.
ReLATE Student Survey: Please Help!
The researchers at Monash University would like a larger sample than they have currently received .
We would really love families with children in the Years 4-6 bracket to take a few moments to complete this survey which will support the school’s work in implementing the ReFraming Learning and Teaching Environments model. The survey is designed to be completed by parent(s) and their child.
There are 21 questions about safety, school environment and the teaching relationships that your child(ren) experiences. Our school will receive a report based on the findings that will be distributed.
Please use the link with your child if they fall into the Year 4-6 age range.
Phones and Smart Watches
We have a number of children with phones and smart watches at school. Parents are reminded that student phones need to be kept locked in the school library during the day and that smart watches should have internet functions switched off for school hours.
