STEM PROGRAM

Girls as Leaders in STEM Program UPDATE!

On Thursday 28th April,  School Liaison Officer Krissy, from Deakin University came to St Joseph’s to talk to us about our proposed problem and solution using the STEM methods. Krissy helped us decide on our project idea and suggested the process towards presenting this idea to the community.  We decided as a group to take a walk to investigate the location of our environmental problem, the Russell’s Creek Bike Trail!

On Monday 2nd May , The GALS (Girls As Leaders in STEM) went on their second excursion to Deakin University, to participate in their second workshop.  We were able to interact with other schools and learnt more about the STEM program. Jenny and Heather came to talk to the group and they discussed with us, what are the good qualities of a leader.  We tested our teamwork skills by making a paper aeroplane as a small group and with only our left hand!  We spent time also talking about effective presenting methods, which will help us when we have to present our project later in June.
