PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
This week is National Volunteers Week. An opportunity to thank and consider the volunteers in our community. The SES, Surf Life Saving, St Vincent de Paul, CFA and Meals on Wheels are crucial organisations largely dependent on volunteers skills and generosity. Our local sports clubs, arts, dance and drama groups and environmental groups are also driven by the passion of volunteers. Warrnambool is much richer and safer because of the generosity of its volunteers. As is our school.
Many thanks to all of you who volunteer in our community. Not only do you add to the fabric of our society but you set an example for your children, the next generation of volunteers.
With volunteering in mind I draw your attention to Adrian Benson’s 2023 St Joseph’s Fair article in this newsletter and urge you to attend the meeting on Tuesday 7th June.
Finally, there are many things to celebrate from school last week: the efforts of the children who sat NAPLAN tests, sports achievements (see below) and Year 1 Hip Hop Dance classes. For me the highlight was coming across a beaming year 1 girl one morning. She told me that today was going to be her best day at school. In her hands was a sandwich wrapped in foil with her name on. It was her class's turn for toasties.
Thanks to the volunteers.
P.S. Don't forget your democracy sausage at St Joes on Saturday.
