PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
Faith, Community, Learning and Wellbeing are cornerstones of our school’s vision. Although wellbeing is at the forefront of all of our minds as we navigate this latest lockdown and the safe return to school I would like to acknowledge our school community.
Community implies that we do things with and for each other as opposed to individualism where we do things for ourselves at the expense of others. I am grateful and in admiration of the St Joseph’s Teachers, Learning Support Officers, wonderful Administration Staff and Maintenance Staff who clicked into gear on Thursday to pivot towards remote learning. Their focus was on the wellbeing of the students and their families. Everyone played their role with good humour, professionalism, good will and faith in others.
I am particularly grateful to the parents and carers who have adapted to this complex situation.
We are all a part of a wonderful community here at St Joes which is a small part of the Warrnambool, Victorian, Australian and global communities. All we can do is our little bit with and for each other.
As I write this message there is still uncertainty as to the length of the lockdown. Should it be extended beyond the seven days we will move to online learning next week with video lessons
At this stage I am still thinking of the Merrivale Primary School community as they grieve the loss of Cooper Onyett. On your behalf we have sent flowers along with our thoughts and prayers.
STUDENT WELLBEING
There will be students who may have heightened responses to the latest developments across Victoria. If this is the case at your house please let the classroom teacher know via the “check in” or via email.
