Year 5/6 District Winter Sports - Friday 18th June

Our final training sessions will take place this week for our selected Year 5/6  students and they are reminded to come to school in their Sports Uniform to ensure they are comfortable when training. 

Tuesday - Soccer and Netball at lunch time.

Wednesday - Tee-Ball and Football at lunch time.

Thursday - Netball at Recess; Soccer at lunch time.

Sorry, no parent spectators

Unfortunately, the District Sporting Schools Network have had to make the difficult decision to ask for NO Parent Spectators at any of the venues this Friday.  We understand how disappointing this is for many families, especially as many of the sports will be held outdoors.  However, with 4 schools competing at each venue, plus the number of students participating, plus staff, umpires, scorers etc - we would be breaching the current Covid-19 guidelines for safety.  The main goal is for our students to gain the opportunity to represent their school in a team sport and at District level.  They understand that this event could very well have been cancelled after the recent ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown, and as a result have displayed gratitude for the opportunity this Friday.  We thank you in advance for your support.

Girls Footy Training (Years 5 and 6)

Year 5/6 girls are encouraged to sign-up for the Girls’ Football Team.  Trials will take place on Monday 21st June at lunchtime. Students are encouraged to wear their Sports Uniform to school and they are welcome to bring their own football boots, if they have them.  The date for the competition is due in Week 3 of Term 3, but is yet to be confirmed.

Hockey Tryouts (Year 5 and 6)

On Tuesday 22nd June and Tuesday 13th July, we will be holding Hockey trials for any Year 5/6 students who might be interested in competing next term at the Division Hockey in Week 2 of next Term (event date to be confirmed).  Please bring mouthguards and shin pads if you have them.  Details of further training sessions will be outlined at this first training session. 

Basketball Hooptime (Years 3/4 & 5/6)

Due to tight time constraints for the remainder of this term, following our new Covid restrictions, we have decided to utilise our Physical Education lessons to trial all students in Years 3 - 6 for the District Basketball teams. 

We will observe the students and form a short-listed Squad to continue training when we return to school after the Holidays.  We will have Mike McGorm come to school to support our trial selection with the two squads of students, so that we can have the teams chosen and prepared for the following dates:

Year 3/4 – Friday 13th August, 2021

Year 5/6 - Friday 27th August, 2021

Year 4 Touch Football Clinic - Wednesday 16th June

All Year 4 students are invited to wear their Sports Uniform to school on this day.

Regional Cross Country

The new date for the Regional Cross Country is Thursday 15th July at Deakin University.  We will have 10 of our students representing the school in this event.
