Michael Gray, Principal
Dear St. Joseph’s School Community,
A special thanks to everyone for your swift support and engagement with our school COVID-19 monitoring plan this morning.
As all would be aware local business, Midfield Meats closed for precautionary testing today. St Joseph's asked families who work at Midfield to keep their children at home until the testing of staff members is completed and results returned. This was purely as a precaution.
Midfield made this voluntary decision to support communty testing, noting there are no active cases at the Warrnambool site.
We are in very different times. St Joseph's continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and has strong procedures to support the health and safety of all students, staff and our community.
Regards,
Michael Gray. Principal.
Happy Birthday to children celebrating their birthday this week.

2020 FIRST EUCHARIST (GRADE 4)
First Eucharist is a Sacramental Program for Year 4 students who have been Baptised and Confirmed.
Please complete this form and make a $25 contribution payment, to meet the cost of materials, through CDFpay (our online ordering system).
Registrations closes on Friday 7th August, 2020.
A kit containing the materials and information to prepare your child for the Celebration of First Eucharist will be distributed to your child once registrations have closed.
This year Eucharist will be run a little differently with children working through the materials at home with a parent rather than the traditional family group meetings at school. In Term 2 the Confirmation (Year 3) program was run with this new format and the feedback we received indicated that this worked well.
The Parish team are putting together an information video for parents to view in their own time in place of a face to face Parent Information evening. A link to this video will be made available through a future newsletter.
Please contact the Parish Office on (03) 5562 2231 if you have any queries.
Parents are invited to join us for our scheduled PSA Meeting at 7:30pm on Tuesday 28th July via Zoom.
This meeting is going to be held via the ZOOM platform. The link for this meeting will be published in next week's newsletter.
Dojo Points Achievers in Japanese classes Term 2
Here are some photos of the Junior Japanese Display. Our trainee, Ms Rosalie Cullum has been very busy creating our display that supports the topics that the students have been learning in class. Rosalie studied Japanese at Emmanuel College through to Year 12 last year and the students thoroughly enjoy having her speak Japanese to them in class!
Over the next few weeks we will be conducting some Listening Assessments to show the students how much Japanese they actually understand when it is spoken to them. I have continued to use the Google Classroom platform for the Junior students and I encourage them to re-visit this site when they are at home.
If you would like to know anything about the Languages' Program then feel free to email me at elloyd@sjwarrnambool.catholic.

Once per term the PSA run a Pizza Day as a "special occasion" lunch option and to raise money for the PSA. A special thank you to a small team of staff, many who are parents at the school, who are volunteering their time to assist on the day.
Children can choose from either Garlic or Hawaiian pizza (Gluten Free options available) which are ordered via CDFPay (Canteen ordering system) and provided by Pinkie’s Pizza who are one of our major school sponsors.
There are no canteen orders on Pizza Days and children not wanting to order pizza should bring their lunch from home.
Sorry, no late orders can be accepted.
Issue 5 of the the Scholastic Bookclub is being sent home this week.
All orders are placed via the Scholastic Loop which is accessed via their website of the Loop App. Please do not send orders and cash into school, all orders must be placed electronically.
Search for St Josephs School (no punctuation), pick Warrnambool.
The school receives credits from all orders which is then used to purchase books for the Library and classrooms.
Orders Close: Monday 27th July, 2020
