Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and our wider School Community
Orientation Day
Our students have experienced two transition sessions and this Tuesday will experience the last session with Orientation Day. On this day our Grade 6 students attend their College and our new Foundation students will join our current students. The day includes classroom session, experiencing our playground and a free BBQ lunch provided by our parent school association (PSA).
Students will commence the day in their normal classrooms and by 9:30am will move to their 2020 groups and spend the morning with their 2020 teacher. As all are aware much work is undertaken to make student placements. It is important that we all face this day with endeavour, and a “can do”. A positive mindset and a great sense of purpose also help us manage change well.
In the placement of students, we use learning, social support information and practicalities of classroom size to help create placements. After Orientation day we examine all classes to ensure placements are appropriate; if information is missed our enrolment committee will examine the facts. Issues are listed by talking with your child’s teacher and completing a placement form available from our deputy principal Jim Guinan.
Interview Booking and Reports
From 9:30am, on Wednesday 11th December, the Parent Access Module (PAM) will be opened for booking of literacy and numeracy interviews. PAM will also be your access to our student reports that will be available from Friday 13th December. See the note in this newsletter regarding accessing reports via an andriod device.
Graduation Mass
A reminder this important Grade 6 event is on this Thursday 12th December commencing at 6 pm at St. Joseph’s Church. After mass a function for parents/guardians and our Year 6 students will be held at the function rooms of the Flying Horse.

2019 School Fees
A reminder that all school fees should be paid. If you have not yet paid your fees for 2019 can this please be done so as soon as possible.
2020 School Photos
After a review of our School Photo Program we have now decided on a new photography company for 2020. Glenn Watson from Glenn Watson Photography will be taking all of our school photos next year. Glenn is a local of Warrnambool and on reviewing the work he has completed for other schools already, I am sure he will do a great job for us.
With the change however, we will now be having the whole school photos taken on Thursday 13th February. Order forms will come home as soon as the children commence school at the beginning of the year.
We would like to congratulate Glenn and look forward to working with him.
South West No Interest Loans (NIL)
Please see a flyer attached advertising this loan scheme run by Brophy for families that need financial with return to school costs.
School Uniform
During 2019 we trialled the idea of Foundation students wearing their sports uniform every day due to the number of PMP sessions and PE they have. This worked really well and saved parents buying uniform they didn’t need. For 2020 we will allow this to continue for Foundation students only again.
All students from Years 1 - 6 are required to wear the normal summer and winter uniform as per our Uniform Policy, this has not changed. Students can only wear their Sports Uniform on their classrooms allotted sports day (one day per week). Sports shorts can only be the school logo’d shorts available from LOWES, no other shorts are accepted. For incorrect uniform worn parents have been called to bring the correct uniform to school and/or out of uniform letters sent home to parents via PAM; both of these options will continue next year for students not wearing the correct uniform.
All students competing in representative teams throughout the year can only wear the school logo’d sports shorts (unless the sport has a different uniform i.e football).
We are also looking to introduce a seperate sports top in 2021, however this will not affect our normal uniform requirements.
If you have any questions regarding school uniform please contact Cathy Duynhoven.
State Cricket Finals
Our team of cricket stars in Years 5/6 are playing for the State Title at the Junction Oval today. We wish them a great day out and hope they play their best.
Thank you
This will be the final sports report for 2019 and I would just like to thank everyone for their support this year. It has been a wonderful opportunity to get to know staff, parents, students and the broader school community.
We have had amazing success this year in various sporting events and have had students represent our school and/or made it to the region or state finals in:
- Athletics
- Swimming
- Cross Country
- Lawn Bowls
- Tee Ball
- Cricket
- Football
- Basketball
- Hockey
- Soccer.
An amazing achievement by the children! Most importantly has been the sportsmanship and respect for opposition teams that all our athletes have shown.
Grade 4 Cricket
A big thank you to Jason Ellliot for all his work in running our St Joseph’s vs Warrnambool Primary School Cricket competition for Year 4 students last Friday. St Joseph’s boys and girls were successful winning nearly all of the matches played. Despite the cool weather and wind the children had a great day out playing cricket with their friends.

School report folders will be sent home with your child on Friday 13th December with the report being accessible via PAM on the same day.
School report folders now only contain samples of the students work and tasks. The actual report needs to be downloaded from PAM.
We are aware that parents with android phones are not able to access .PDF file format on their phone via the link to PAM from the SZapp. We are still working on a fix for this problem.
We use .PDF file formats for school reports and attachments to permission forms.
Andriod phone users have a few workaround solutions which are:
- use the direct link to PAM https://pam.sjwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au/
- use the link to PAM from our school website (rather than the link from the app)
- access PAM via a computer.
Contact the office if you require any assistance.
