Boys Hockey
On Thursday 1st August, the St Joseph’s Boys Hockey Team went to Dimboola to compete in the Greater Western Region Hockey Competition. We were in the second pool with St Arnaud’s Primary school and Birchip. We had 3 games over the course of the day. The first game for us was at 11 o’clock against St Arnaud’s and we lost 2-1. Half an hour later we played our second game against Birchip and we lost 2-1.
Finally, we played against St Arnauds in a friendly game. Sadly, we lost again 2-0.
Overall, it was a great day and we would like to thank Marcia Nelson-Hill for coaching us to get to this stage. Also, a special thank you to Andrew Miles for driving the bus to Dimboola and getting us all there safely.

The girls played 4 games. Our first was against Hamilton Alexandra College. They beat us 4 nil. Our next game was against Kowree, it was a tough game, but we managed to get a draw of 2 all. Our next game, against Birchip was a good game and we won 1-0. This put our total points score at 6. Our last game was against Jamo. This was our toughest game and we drew 0-0. This put us in equal second place overall.

St Joseph's Primary School has been invited to once again take part in Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project of Samaritan’s Purse. It partners with local churches in developing nations to reach out to children by providing gift-filled shoeboxes and bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ. After receiving shoebox gifts, many children are also invited back to participate in The Greatest Journey – an evangelism and discipleship program.
Families are invited to fill a box with items which is then sent to a child in need. Include something from each of the 6 categories.
- Something to wear
- Something to play with
- Something for school
- Something to love
- Something special
- Something for personal hygiene
Boxes can be collected and returned to Room D4 by Friday 11 October, 2019.
There is a $10 postage fee that can be paid online.
Please do not seal the box with tape, just put a plastic band around it. All boxes are checked by the volunteer at Operation Christmas Child before they are posted off.
