Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
As we approach the end of another remarkable school year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we have undertaken together. It is with immense gratitude and pride that I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every member of our school community.
This year has been a testament to the strength and resilience of our collective spirit. The dedication and creativity of our teachers, the enthusiasm of our students, the unwavering support of parents, and the hard work of our staff have all contributed to the success and vibrancy of our school.
To our exceptional staff, thank you for your tireless efforts to inspire, guide, and empower our students. Your passion for each individual child has made a lasting impact on the lives of those you teach. Your commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed, and I am grateful for the positive impact you have on the life of our school.
To the parents and guardians, thank you for your trust, collaboration, and involvement in your child's education. Your partnership has been invaluable, and together we have created a supportive and nurturing community. A special thank you to Mel Happ, Claire Nailon, Jess McCarthy, Andrea Welsh, Tracey Harris and Christian Saywell for their support, wisdom and advice through the School Advisory Council. And to Leon Senchenko and all of the members of the Parents Advisory Committee for their ongoing enthusiasm.
Most importantly, to our wonderful students, thank you for your curiosity, creativity, and boundless energy. Your achievements, both big and small, have filled our classrooms and playgrounds, and your growth has been a joy to witness.
In particular, I wish the graduating Year 6 students every success and happiness in the future wherever they go and whatever they do. My wish for them all is summed up in an old saying reborn by Ted Lasso “Be curious - not judgemental”. Each one of you has unlimited potential to make a positive impact on the world. As you move forward, continue to be curious, compassionate and courageous.
As we all take a well-deserved break over the summer, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the sense of unity and purpose that defines our school community. It is only through our collective efforts that we have made that this academic year a resounding success.
I look forward to the continued growth and excitement of our school as we embark on new adventures together in the upcoming school year. Enjoy a restful and rejuvenating summer, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunities that the future holds for our extraordinary school community.
Thank you for making St Josephs a place where learning thrives, friendships flourish and dreams take flight.
Farewells
Mark Hyland
This Friday marks the end of an era as Mark Hyland embarks on a well-deserved retirement, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
Your dedication to education over the last 44 years has been nothing short of inspiring. Over the years, you've not only imparted knowledge but also instilled a love for learning in the countless students (over 1,200) who have passed through your classroom. Your passion, commitment, and unwavering belief in the potential of every individual have left an everlasting impact on our school community.
Beyond the curriculum, you've been a leader in Religious Education, and a source of guidance for both students and colleagues alike. Your kindness, patience, and genuine care for the wellbeing of those around you have created a warm and nurturing environment that will be greatly missed.
As you cycle into this new chapter of your life, we hope you take with you the countless memories of laughter, shared successes, and the countless lives you've touched. Your legacy will continue to live on in the stories of the students you've inspired and the colleagues you've collaborated with.
Marie O'Donnell
As Marie O’Donnell embarks on the exciting journey of retirement, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the profound impact you've had on all of us here at St Joseph’s and also throughout country Victoria. The communities of Nagambie, Kerang, Pakenham, Stratford, Sale, Portland and West Warrnambool and St Josephs are richer for your years of dedication and passion.
Your unwavering commitment to students, particularly the most needy, has been nothing short of extraordinary. You've not only shared your knowledge but also inspired countless children to reach for the stars. Your enthusiasm for reading has been contagious, as you have supported children to grow and discover.
Your caring nature has created a nurturing environment that makes every student feel seen and valued. Your ability to connect with each individual and foster a sense of confidence has truly made our school a special place.
As you step into this well-deserved chapter of retirement, please know that your legacy will live on in the countless lives you've touched. May your retirement be filled with the same joy, inspiration, and fulfilment that you've given to our school throughout the years.
Wishing you all the best in this new chapter of life. You will be dearly missed, but your influence will continue to shape the minds and hearts of those you've touched.
