Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
All Saints Day
Wednesday 1st November
Mindful of a creative, energising magnificence at work in all places:
In the vastness of the universe
In life here on earth
In every breath we take
We take inspiration from those who knew the Presence of Jesus in their life, who recognised it in the life of others, who called upon this Presence to transform a world of sorrow and pain into a world of hope, promise and joy.
Doshisha Elementary School Partnership
St Joseph’s Primary school began our partnership with Doshisha Elementary School in 2017. The goals of the partnership are to:
- Develop mutual understanding and friendship,
- Promote better understanding of our nations, culture, economy, history, customs and environment
- Encourage engagement in each country's language, written and spoken.
A major element of this partnership is the exchange of teachers and students for short term visits. Sadly, these visits were cancelled during the COVID pandemic.
Doshisha students and teachers will be visiting St Joseph’s next March and will be billeted with school families. We are looking forward to making them welcome.
The Warrnambool and District Catholic Schools Network will be sending a group of Year 6 students to Kyoto, Japan in September next year.
Both of these opportunities (hosting and visiting) provide children with real cultural insights through building relationships.
Information Session
To gather more information about the trip please attend the following session.

Happy Birthday to children celebrating their birthday this week.
Isla Hansen, Indiana Smedts, Angus Smith, Leo Guiney, Archie Heffernan, Matilda Houston, Harley Singh, Charlie Matthews, Mila Tran, Ashlea Ward and Imogen Ward.
It was great to see so many students walking, riding and scooting to school on Friday 27th October.
Thank you to our helpers for arriving early and handing out badges to students.
Basketball
On Wednesday 25th October, our Year 6 basketball teams made the early trip home from camp in Melbourne all the way to the Colac Basketball stadium via train, for Regional basketball.
Our girls and boys teams represented the school exceptionally on the day, with both teams having great days. Our boys team were successful on the day, finishing on the top of the ladder which meant booking themselves a place in the State Finals in Melbourne at MSAC.
Well done everyone!
Cricket
Good luck to both our boys and girls cricket teams, who will take part in the Division competition this Friday 3rd November in Hamilton at Pedrina park! Both teams had a very successful day in Warrnambool which has earned them the right to compete at the next level. Enjoy the day and good luck!
Dressage and Showjumping
Bonnie King had a wonderful day out at the Warrnambool Interschool Dressage and Showjumping Competition representing St Joseph’s!
She won the Freshman Grand Prix Show Jumping and was the Reserve Show Jumping Champion!
She finished 2nd in her first dressage test and after a couple of little errors 5th in her second dressage test.
