Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
Australian Maths Competition
Congratulations to all of the children who participated in the Australian Maths Competition in August. This competition is a great challenge beginning with easier questions and ending with really difficult problems. It is always good to see children willing to challenge themselves and get themselves into the tricky position where they are being stretched. I congratulate all of the children simply for being willing to “Have a Go”.
In particular I would like to acknowledge Jack Kitto who was awarded a High Distinction certificate placing him in the top few percent of the Year 6 category. Well done Jack!
All of the children received their certificates last week along with feedback on their responses in each of the sub sections e.g. problem solving, measurement, cache and data etc.
Thank you to Mrs Saywell for organising and coordinating this opportunity.

Cricket
Well done to our Year 6 cricket teams who represented our school last Friday in Hamilton at the Division cricket finals. Both teams played some excellent cricket with our boys even playing well enough to qualify for Regional cricket next Wednesday 15th November in Ballarat. Well done to all players.
Basketball
Our Year 6 boys basketball team have booked themselves a position in the State finals to be held next Monday 13th November at MSAC in Melbourne, this is a huge effort and all the boys should be incredibly proud. Good luck boys, we know you will do us all proud.
If you are interested in your 2024 Year 6 student child taking part in the 2024 Japan Trip, or you would just like more information, we are holding an Information Session for parents and students at St Josephs Primary School at 4pm - 5pm on Wednesday 22nd November.
The aim of this meeting is to present information regarding the proposed Japan Trip for students in September 2024. The trip is for Year 6 students with the possibility of Year 5 students which is to be confirmed.
We are currently gathering details about pricing, and will have more information regarding this at the meeting.
Hosting Opportunity
We would like an indication of how many St. Joseph's families may be interested in hosting two students at their home when they visit.
This would be for four nights from 24th March to 28th March, 2024.
Adults are required to have a current Working with Children Check, please ensure that the school office has been provided with a copy of this.
