Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
The following prayer was printed on the parish bulletin this week to celebrate Father’s Day.
Fathers
God our Father, we give you thanks and
praise for fathers young and old.
We pray for young fathers, newly embracing
their vocation; may they find courage and
perseverance to balance work, family and
faith in joy and sacrifice.
We pray for fathers around the
world whose children are lost or suffering;
may they know that the God of compassion
walks with them in their sorrow.
We pray for men who are not fathers but still
mentor and guide with fatherly love and advice.
We remember fathers, grandfathers and
great grandfathers who are no longer with us
but who live forever in our memory and
nourish us with their love.
Amen.
Father’s Day Breakfast
Thanks to the work of the PSA in coordinating and running the Father’s Day Breakfast. This event was designed by the PSA to continue to build community at St Josephs and was a huge success. Thanks also to the staff who attended and supported the events particularly Sharyn O’Bray and Andrew Miles for setting up and packing up. Often their work behind the scenes goes unnoticed.
$10,000 Business Raffle
Thank you to everyone who supported our $10,000 Business Raffle. I am delighted to inform you that this raffle raised a total profit of $32,121.80. The beauty of this raffle is that every cent raised has stayed within our community. Our businesses sponsored us to the tune of $13,700 which covered our costs and the $10,000 prize will be spent back in those businesses.
A special acknowledgement and thank you to Cathy Duynhoven who coordinated and managed the event on behalf of our Parent School Association.
Finally, congratulations to Langley Family (Christopher, Robyn, Eloise, Isabelle and Millicent). The Langleys are in the enviable position of deciding how to spend the $10000 first prize. Not only that, as the winning ticket sellers they have their family fee at St Joseph’s ($1,350) paid for 2023. Well done!
Year 5 Camp
Good luck to all of the Year 5 children, teachers and parents as they head to Ballarat for camp this week (Tuesday - Thursday).
They will visit Sovereign Hill including the Aura Sound and Light show in the evening, Xtreme Bounce, the Eureka Centre, the movies and more.
State Hockey Final
Good luck to our Year 6 girls who are heading to Melbourne for the state finals. We wish you all good luck and hope that you all enjoy yourselves.
RUOK Thursday 8th September
This week is an opportunity for us all to think about the wellbeing of our family, friends and colleagues by initiating the RUOK conversation.
Regards

From Friday 1 September, 2022, children are required to wear their hats at school whilst outside at recess, lunch and sport.
No Hat = No Play
Children without hats will have to stay in the undercover area during lunch and recess. We do NOT have a grace period, hats must be worn from the 1st September.
Hats are now back in stock at Lowes, Gateway Plaza.
As per our Sun Protection policy:
Please ensure your child has adequate sun protection during the months of September to May. You child will require the following:
a) their own sunscreen SPF 30+ or higher,
b) St Joseph's Primary School sun hat,
c) rash vest (if they are going swimming).
The above items are all to be labelled with their name and room number please.
Classrooms all have a supply of sunscreen available.
As we are starting to look towards and prepare for 2023 we are looking for information from any families that know, or think, they may be relocating and won't be attending St Josephs Primary School next year.
If this is your family can you please email Cathy Duynhoven on cduyn@sjwarrnambool.catholic.
