Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
God of big hills to climb,
God of little steps of courage:
help us light a candle in the darkness
and begin this journey with renewed hope.
You know of the valleys and the false summits ahead,
and the pasture that waits with still waters.
Lead us on through the night though we know there be danger,
for we cannot remain where we are.
Amen.
~ The Corrymeela Community
Transition Days
Our formal transition program begins this Friday afternoon. All children from Years Foundation – Year 5 will move to the next year level for an “experience” at that year level. The children will not necessarily be in their 2022 class groups or with their 2022 classroom teacher. This will be repeated next Friday. On Tuesday 7th December the children will spend the morning in their new classrooms with their new teachers. On this day we will also share a sausage in bread for lunch and a Zooper Dooper.
Congratulations to all of the Year 12 students who graduated last week. A special thought to all of the past St Joseph's students. We wish them well for all of their future endeavours.
Face Masks
Even though restrictions are easing in the community, primary schools remain under tight guidelines to maintain student safety. In particular restrictions to visitors and continued wearing of face masks. I thank everyone for their understanding and support in this matter.
Face masks will now only be required by staff, visitors, and Years 3 to 6 students in an indoor space within a primary school (or schools which have primary students, such as a P–12 school).
The wearing of masks remains recommended for Prep to Year 2 students and in circumstances where physical distancing cannot be maintained.
Remembrance Day
On Thursday 11th November the Year 6 Leaders (supported by Catherine Lee) led the school community in a Remembrance Day service. It was a privilege to join with them as they paid their respects to those who have served our country.
Following our ceremony Mr McCombe took our school captains; Archie McGrath, Kayla Wallace, Lucy Neal and Charlie Jellie to the War Memorial to lay a wreath on behalf of our school community.
Eucharist
Congratulations to all of our First Eucharist candidates who recently celebrated the sacrament. The ceremonies were very prayerful and child centered. Thanks to the families and teachers who supported the children in their preparation. Special mention to Fr John, Leanne and Mary from our parish office for their support and leadership.
Please enjoy this Communion reflection which was shown during the services.

The Year Six students have been examining quality writers and using their techniques in their own writing. In particular they explored “Fox” by Margaret Wild, a story about friendship, trust and acceptance. Our Year 6 students wrote their own stories and added pictures to enhance their text. We hope that you enjoy these stories over the next few weeks.
Pizza Day: Thursday 2nd December, 2021

UPDATE STUDENT MEDICAL INFORMATION
As we are preparing for offsite activities such as excursions and other school actvities, we require all families to login to PAM and update their child's Medical Information. Please take the time to check that all information is correct and reference numbers are submitted for ambulance subscription.
This information assists with our electronic permission forms that is a feature in PAM, we require you to update the Medical Profile for your child/ren. If your child has an Asthma, Anaphylactic or Allergy Plan it is important that you check that it is up to date and upload the most current copy to PAM.
Please follow the instructions below to update a medical profile for each of your children by:
- Click on link to PAM (found on our webpage or SZapp)
- Click on student (if more than 1 child, this will need to be done individually)
- Click on Medical Profile (blue writing to the left of screen)
- Check all questions and select Edit Details for updates to be made.
- Once you get to the end of the questions please confirm by clicking on the Green “Update Details” Box found at the bottom right of screen.
As a parent/guardian you are able to access your child/rens medical profile on PAM at any time to update as needed. Administration will send out reminders each term requesting you update any necessary information.
If you have any queries, please contact with the office.
Volunteers Needed
We rely on our volunteers and are also in need of more parents to assist. Canteen can only run 5 days a week if we have sufficient volunteers. Can you help?
Training is arranged by our Canteen Co-ordinator Tanya Hughes. Please consider volunteering, even if only once per term, all help most appreciated.
