Matthew O'Brien, Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
God of the people who serve,
God of the power we share:
In representative governments,
We ourselves are responsible for what is done in our name.
And so we pray for those who,
holding the power we give them,
Have stood against violence and stood with and beside those who are vulnerable.
May they and we know that what is right may require courage,
But is accompanied by the resolve of the people;
By an unworldly power that holds firm and secure.
Amen.
Assembly Reflection
As a part of B4’s great assembly on Friday, each child shared something they are grateful for; Easter Bunny, AFL, family, Jesus, friends, Mr O'Connor, even Tom Hawkins made the list. For me, I am grateful for the last three weeks of somewhat normal school life. Children and staff onsite, swimming, professional development, class grouping for 2022, testing, Foundation transition visits and First Eucharist all adding to the joyful complexity of school life. I hope that everyone gets a moment (among the chaos) to be fully present and enjoy the simple pleasure of just being who they are, where they are.
Remembrance Day
Last Thursday the Year 6 Leaders (supported by Catherine Lee) led the school community in a Remembrance Day service. It was a privilege to join with them as they paid their respects to those who have served our country.
Following our ceremony Mr McCombe took our school captains; Archie McGrath, Kayla Wallace, Lucy Neal and Charlie Jellie to the War Memorial to lay a wreath on behalf of our school community.
Regards
Matthew O'Brien, Principal

School Team Photos will be taken on Wednesday 17th November for all sports and academic teams. These photos will commence from 9am.
Each child will have the opportunity to order a photo of a team sports or school activity that they participated in throughout 2021. These orders will be available to be made after the photos have been taken. Students will be provided with information on the day of the photo session. This year all will be able to order the photos online via Glen Watson directly, this will assist in minimizing late orders being taken. You will also have the option of the photos being delivered to school or posted to you directly.
All students who took part in a team will be included within the photo and must be wearing the full team uniform.
All sports team students will need to wear their sports uniform on this day and the relevant team top will be supplied to them (if you still have them you will need to bring them along).

The Year Six students have been examining quality writers and using their techniques in their own writing. In particular they explored “Fox” by Margaret Wild, a story about friendship, trust and acceptance. Our Year 6 students wrote their own stories and added pictures to enhance their text. We hope that you enjoy these stories over the next few weeks.
On Friday 26th November we will be sending selected Year 6 students to our local District Cricket competition. The event will take place at Brierly Reserve, 28 Moore Street starting at 10:00am and we aim to finish by 2:30pm. The 6 teams consist of 6 players on the field at any one time.
We have collected the names of interested students, however many students have been away or sick on these occasions. We are aiming to give priority to any Year 6 student who has not had the opportunity to represent our school at a sporting event yet, so please discuss this option with your child and fill in the attached form to register your child's interest by 4pm, Wednesday 17th November, 2021.
A trial/training session will take place this Thursday 18th November at 1:45pm. Please wear Sports uniform to school on this day, if your name is on the list for the Cricket competition.
Feel free to email us with any questions sport@sjwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au

Thank you to our families who ordered calendars and cards for the Art Fundraiser. We have had lots of wonderful feedback on the quality of the product showing the children's art work that they created in class.
All original art work is placed in your child's Assessment Folder which will come home with your child towards the end of the term.
If you placed an order and wish to order more items then you can contact Crazy Camel on 1800 141 239 and order directly with them. You will need to pay for postage as well as the order will be posted directly to you.
If you did not place an order then unfortunately you are not able to order directly with Crazy Camel as they do not have access to your child's art work.
Volunteers Needed
We rely on our volunteers and are also in need of more parents to assist. Canteen can only run 5 days a week if we have sufficient volunteers. Can you help?
Training is arranged by our Canteen Co-ordinator Tanya Hughes. Please consider volunteering, even if only once per term, all help most appreciated.
