Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
God of our going out and our coming in: each step we take today
needs to make space for others.
Each errand we run,
each purchase we make,
has to make sense for the whole. We must consider how our lives affect the lives around us.
This is not new.
It has always been thus.
But going forward, in this next step, may this truth finally come home.
Amen.
Welcome back to Term 4
We are all hoping that the return to onsite learning will go according to the plan outlined during the holidays. It is wonderful to have the junior classrooms full of smiles and enthusiasm and we are all looking forward to welcoming back the rest of the children as soon as possible. As you are no doubt aware there is a staggered return to school for our Year 3-Year 6 students.
The key points are as follows:
- A staggered return will see all regional students back at school at least part-time within the first two weeks of Term 4.
- From Monday 4 October, all Foundation to Grade 2 will return to the classroom full-time, as they were at the end of Term 3.
- From Monday 11 October, a staggered approach will apply so all students are back in the classroom at least part-time:
- Years 3-4 will attend school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- Years 5-6 will attend on Thursdays and Fridays
- Year 7 will return five days a week
- From Tuesday 26 October all students will be back in the classroom full-time.
As always, I am thankful and inspired by the ongoing flexibility of our staff in managing the learning and wellbeing of the students in these ever-changing circumstances. I would also like to thank all of those adults at home for their ongoing support for their children during remote learning.
Student Face Masks
For school settings, the Victorian Chief Health Officer recommends children under 12 years of age and students at primary school wear face masks when at school, attending OSHC program, or when travelling to or from school using public transport.
Stay home when unwell and get tested
The most important action school communities can take to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, is to ensure that any unwell staff and students remain at home and get tested, even with the mildest of symptoms. Everyone should consider their health before they start work or attend school and ensure that they are free from coronavirus symptoms and have not had contact in the past 14 days with a person confirmed to have coronavirus or a person suspected to have coronavirus.
Year 3 Camp to Kangaroobie
Sadly, this camp which was planned for next week has been cancelled. Under the current restrictions all camps and overnight stays are prohibited.
Swimming Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2
Also, Aquazone have contacted us to inform us that swimming lessons planned for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 have been cancelled.
Regards

Welcome back to term 4.
We are writing today to inform you that after correspondence from Aquazone and the Catholic Education Office, the Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 swimming lessons that were scheduled to commence this Term, have been cancelled.
The message we received from Aquazone is as follows:
"With the recent announcement of the Victorian roadmap out of lockdown, it unfortunately impacts the Learn to swim program at Aquazone. The Roadmap has placed capacity limits within the centre that do not help or promote the return of swimming lessons in our centre at the beginning of this term."
This ruling also matches with the current school operations guidelines we have received today from the Catholic Education office.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your family. The cost of the swimming program will be credited to school fee accounts. If you have already paid your account in full for 2021, this credit balance will rollover to 2022.
