Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
“If you work hard and enjoy what you are doing, follow your dreams and anything is possible.”

Good Luck to St Joseph’s own Nathan Sobey in the finals of the Olympic Basketball this week.
Post Lockdown Survey
Thank you to everyone involved in the smooth transition to and from remote learning during the recent lockdown. The majority of the feedback we have received has been positive as have the improvement suggestions. In order to prepare for the next lockdown effectively we are seeking your feedback through the following short survey.
WALK DON’T RUN
Please consider signing the petition to support the instalment of 40kmh School Zone along Raglan Parade between King Street and Hopetoun Road. Many children dart across in this dangerous area through dense, fast traffic.
Staffing Update
Georgia Johnson will be leaving C2 in early Term 4, 2021 to begin maternity leave. We wish her well as she begins the next exciting chapter in her life.
Louis O’Connor will take leave for the Term 4, 2021 and all of 2022. Louis plans some interstate and hopefully some overseas travel.
Parents School Association
The PSA met virtually last Tuesday night. The group is conscious of it’s dual role of community building and fundraising.
With consideration to the needs of our community, the uncertainty around restrictions and the desire to ensure we maximise family participation, the following decisions were made:
- Fathers’ Day Breakfast has been cancelled due to uncertainty around restrictions.
- the Fathers Day Raffle will be run.
- a pie drive will be run later this term.
- the St Joseph’s Fair will be postponed till 2023.
The PSA will endeavour to run several smaller community building activities in 2022 aimed at connecting our families.
Matthew O'Brien, Principal.
Happy Birthday to children celebrating their birthday this week.
2021 REMOTE LEARNING PARENT SURVEY
Parents are invited to complete a Remote Learning Parent Survey to provide some feedback to the school.
It should take 5-10 minutes of your time. Thank you.
We have already made changes as a result of feedback received by our parents.
This survey closes on Friday 13th August, 2021.
Talk about hitting the ground running! After arriving back at school on Wednesday morning we knew we had to rearrange all our scheduled inter-school sporting dates. Training sessions will be on hold for many of our teams, while we still wait for confirmation of these dates. Regardless of the uncertainties, many of our P.E lessons managed to tune in and watch our Aussie Olympians represent their country in Tokyo. How wonderful it was for our students to finally come together and celebrate the power of Sport!
Unfortunately, the current Covid 19 Guidelines prevents us from having any external adults come on-site to assist us with coaching and clinics. We have commenced the basketball trials for the upcoming Hoop-Time competitions for both Year 3/4 and the Year 5/6 students. Thank you to those who registered online as this assists us during the trial phase. We would like to congratulate those students who demonstrate courage and take the risk to trial for any sporting team at St Joseph’s. A commendable feat displayed by many. All short-listed teams will be posted on the School Sports’ Noticeboard in the Hall.
5/6 Boys and Girls Table Tennis
Coming up later in the term is the Warrnambool Division Table Tennis Championships on Friday 10th September. We can send 4 boys and 4 girls to this tournament and children will need to register on the Sports’ Noticeboard, or email us at sport@sjwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au no later than this Friday afternoon if they would like to be a part of this team. Practice will commence next week, for those selected to compete.
