Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students and the wider St. Joseph’s Primary School Community,
Season of Creation Prayer
Creator of Life:
Earth is full of Your creatures, and by Your wisdom you made them all.
At Your word, Earth brought forth plants yielding seed of every kind and trees of every kind bearing fruit, the waters teemed with swarms of living creatures of every kind, and the world was filled with every kind of winged bird, walking animal, and creatures that creep upon the ground.
Mountains, plains, rocks, and rivers shelter diverse communities, and through the changing seasons Your Spirit renews cycles of life.
During this Season of Creation, open our eyes to see the precious diversity that is all around us. During this first week of The Season of Creation, we praise and thank you especially for the vastness of the oceans that reveal your beauty, power, and peace. Inspire us with ways to protect and keep the oceans healthy. Enlighten our minds to appreciate the delicate balance maintained by each creature. Inspire us to conserve the precious habitats that nurture this web of life.
In the name of the One who came to proclaim good news to all creation, Jesus Christ. Amen
– from The Sisters of St. Joseph
Arts Week
We are celebrating The Arts at St Joseph's this week. One of the highlights will be the highly anticipated St Joe’s has got Talent. You are also encouraged to take your family walk (as a part of daily exercise) past the school in the evening to view the wonderful display.
Our foyer is also beautifully decorated and will remain so well into next term.
RUOK Day
This year RUOK day takes a more important role in highlighting the need for us all to support each other in maintaining our mental wellbeing. The staff here at St Joseph’s will be proactively participating in RUOK day and including it in their work with the children this week. Please follow this link for further information, resources and strategies.
How to ask "Are you OK?"
Happy Fathers’ Day
To all of the dads and significant males at St Joseph’s I hope you had a Happy Fathers’ Day.
Congratulations to Peter Furphy Father of the Year who was nominated by Sophie and won the Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 category.
And to Rohan Murfett, nominated by Rielle was a runner up.
Regards
Matthew O'Brien, Principal

Grandparents are a very special part of our students lives, offering support, guidance and love. We are thankful to all of our wonderful grandparents in our school community. Thank you to those who sent in photos of their grandparents for our movie.
Please watch and enjoy, and hopefully we can celebrate our grandparents onsite next year.
Our theme for Arts week is ‘Colour our World’.
Welcome to Arts week! A week of fun activities for everyone!
This Arts week is going to look a bit different this year but we are fortunate that we will be able to still run our exciting program.
As we are still in remote learning, we will use the usual unit learning plans but with the added resource of Arts week google classroom where specialist art lessons, displays, activities, fun quizzes and challenges are shared virtually. Please explore this with your children as there is something for everyone and more.
Students will need to join this classroom with the Class code 4uri7pz.
Students will still get to participate in our virtual St. Joes got Talent through Arts week google classroom by using the link on the left hand side of the Arts homepage. The timetable for performances is posted in the google classroom with Senior students performing on Monday. Performances will be at 12:30pm each day. We remind students to turn off their microphone and camera when they join and to refrain from recording performances as this will be a breach of privacy and the code of conduct.
Our night walk has now been creatively turned into a ‘Drive by night display’ that can be enjoyed by the whole family. This can be viewed as you drive by each night, Monday to Thursday this week as well as our signature Office foyer display that our students will be able to take a look at. We will post photos for our families to enjoy via our newsletter/google classroom.
Dress Up day - Thursday 9th September - Students and staff can dress up as a colour, an artist, flag or a costume from another country. Students will share their costumes in their class google meets and we will post photos in the newsletter.

On Friday 17th September (last day of term 3) the Young Vinnies are asking for students to wear a touch of yellow. This can be a yellow jumper, yellow shoes, yellow socks, yellow scrunchie or a simple yellow ribbon pinned to their school uniform.

Drop in your items for sale or donation
Now would be a great time to have a clean out of uniform items that your child has grown out of. These can be dropped at the office for sale or donation. The link below will give you a guide for pricing and a label print out.
From Wednesday 1 September, 2021, children are required to wear their hats at school whilst outside at recess, lunch and sport.
No Hat = No Play
Children without hats will have to stay in the undercover area during lunch and recess. We do NOT have grace period, hats must be worn from the 1st September.
As per our Sun Protection policy:
Please ensure your child has adequate sun protection during the months of September to May. You child will require the following:
a) their own sunscreen SPF 30+ or higher,
b) St Joseph's Primary School sun hat,
c) rash vest (if they are going swimming).
The above items are all to be labelled with their name and room number please.
Classrooms all have a supply of sunscreen available.
FUNDRAISING IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS
As COVID and lockdown restrictions have changed the way we can run many of our traditional fundraising events, our PSA and School Advisory Council are looking for new ideas.
We believe this could be the opportunity to change it up a bit, and bring on board new events and fundraising ideas. We have been very lucky in the past where our Fair was able to generate a significant amount of funds for the school each year, and we hope to be able to do that again in the future.
However, we know already that we cannot hold our Fair, in its traditional format, in 2022, so we have it pencilled in for 2023 (hopefully bigger and better than ever).
We have changed both meeting dates to week 10, Wednesday 15th September where we will hold a joint meeting of the PSA and SAC members, with the focus being on fundraising. Our preference is to hold this meeting in person. We invite any other parents who may like to come along to this meeting.
We want your ideas, please fill in this survey below and let us know what ideas you may have. What have you seen work well at other schools you have been involved with? Is there an idea you have been toying with but have never put forward? These are the ideas we would like to hear.
